While I was on Sky News recently I was with Michelle Dewbury I am sure you remember her from The Apprentice a couple of seasons back. She was telling me about the great success she’s been having with a couple of companies she has had on the interent. I mentioned my admiration for Moshi Monsters and that’s when she told me she was personal friends with the creator, one Michael Acton Smith and she suggested that I should give them a ring which I did, hence the photo.

I invited Michael to come for dinner with a friend and when he came he brought Tom Boardman, his co-founder for the online gadget and gift retailer Firebox.com

Now these two guys are both the epitome of the new age. Not only are they incredibly successful, but they are both making millions from their creations. We had a fascinating night and it turns out we are fans of a mutual appreciation society – i.e. they rate me in my business and I them in theirs.

I left them at the Angels to enjoy the remainder of their night in the company of the Angels. We will be meeting up shortly, but this time with a little business in mind… as they say watch this space.

Now, as you know, we got loads of top line sportsmen that come into both of my clubs – and as you will know by now if you follow this – David Hayes is now one of our top line regulars but World Class snooker players have visited my clubs ove the years too. Jimmy White, Ronnie O’Sullivan and of course we have had on many occasions the legendary Hurricane Alex Higgins.

Alex and I go back as far as the 1972 when he was got his first world title, and believe it or not, I spent the night drinking with him and Freddy Mercury the legendary front man from Queen.

Alex and I had many meetings throughout the decades that followed and somewhere in my archives I have a photo of him and I where I won one of his champion cups off him in a game and I still have a that photo somewhere. I’ll let you have a look at it when I find it.

But back to the story.

When I was entertaining Michael Acton Smith and Tom in came one of the most famous names in modern day snooker and of course a champion himself Ken Doherty.

He was such a nice guy he had his photo taken over ten times and not with the Angels but with all the guys who were so impressed to see him. Ken had brought in a message for me from his friend Jimmy White to remind me of an incredibly crazy night that Jimmy and I had once spent in Stringfellows. And yes, I do remember it, but I’m suprised that Jimmy does. Because what started as a dinner date at 9 and night finished at 11 the following morning… but that, as they say, is another story.

This is a crazy photo because Bella and I and Richard and his lovely wife Julia and with one more personal friend the Ex Manager of Manchester City and one time star player of Everton Peter Reid visited one of our new favourite restaurants The 34 on Grosvenor Square.

Richard being a little short sighted asked if he could borrow a pare of specs from the Maitre D’ and sadly they only had this novelty pair which had lights attached. But Richard being the good sport he is put them on anyway.

By the way, Restaurant 34 is one of London’s latest restaurants and it’s fantastic and if you ever get a change to go you must. It belongs to another good friend of mine – Richard Caring.

Sadly I wasn’t there on this particular night in Stringfellows but they did bring with them a present for me. An illustrious King Charles II tie.

I have been invited to talk at Oxford and Cambridge for many years now in fact my first invite to speak was around about 1985. So let’s be fair I quite deserve the accolade.

The last word is if you have a look at the photographs there’s every chance that one of these boys is a future Prime Minister, and I certainly hope so because they really know how to have good fun.

I was just recently on BBC Breakfast TV and to do so I had to travel up to Salford. Reason being that this is a celebration of my 50th year in the business of nightclubs.

While I was up there I showed him a few good old photographs of personalities from the past.

Also while I was there I was asked by Nicky if I could go on his radio show which I did so it was quite a productive morning.

I even managed to do an interview for BBC Manchester earlier on.

This is a very big event in the military calendar where awards are given out to some very special people in the Armed Forces.

We at Stringfellows actually sponsor one award known as the Major James Bowman award and is now given every year to a soldier who has shown immense courage, tenacity and is an inspiration his fellow comrades.

The man this year was Darren Swift who was blown up in Northern Ireland some years back which resulted in him loosing both legs and various other injuries but that hasn’t held him back for one minute. This man is a superhero. You can find more by Googling him and the Soldiering On Awards. It was a wonderful moving and yes, very inspirational evening.

Of course who would have recognised Simon Cowell in those days? But the good thing about Simon is he’s been coming to my clubs ever since although we haven’t seen Sinitta for quite a while now.

Sadly I was in Mallorca but I spoke to him on the phone and he told me he is in London for another month or so. He was with one of his best friends Rav Singh. Rav of course used to be top celebrity writer for the News Of The World and of course is also a good friend of Piers Morgan.

As usual Simon was very generous with the girls although he had no dancers he was holding court for a couple of hours with about four or five of the girls.

Here’s a couple of photographs to remind Simon of what he used to be like a couple of years ago on his previous visits to Stringfellows.

As always he was the perfect gentleman and for all his Mr Nasty image I think he’s one of the nicest guys in the business.
